Thank you to the Osakis VFW and the Nelson Community Association for the generous donations towards the senior banners. Because of their generosity, we are able to offer a reduced price for the banners for those that would like to use that option.
The first set of banners are currently in production and will be displayed as soon as they are received!
Please contact Lindsay Kugel with any questions or to order and submit your photo at lkugel@osakis.k12.mn.us

We were able to catch some staff showing off their unity shirts after school. Participation was phenomenal today with teachers, paraprofessional, kitchen staff, and students wearing orange! We hope everyone has a great MEA break and look forward to seeing parents and guardians at conferences on Monday! - Mr. Schmidt

The Life Choices class, consisting of all seniors, went to visit and volunteer at Meals on Wheels at the Osakis Community Center. Everyone had such a great time visiting and learning about one another.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Today October 16th our students and staff are wearing orange for Unity Day and to raise awareness. Our elementary leadership students under the direction of Mrs. Mikayla Johnson created a video called '"The Wrinkled Heart" for our school to watch and to remind everyone to Be Kind. See the video link below:

October is College Knowledge Month. Most colleges in Minnesota have free applications throughout the month of October. Seniors, take advantage of that and come fill out applications with Mrs. Kugel on Wednesday, October 16th during 2nd or 3rd hour. You can come and go during any part of either hour (as long as your teachers approve)!

Shout out to the Osakis Fire Department for organizing a fantastic fire safety day for the students. It’s so important to teach kids about fire safety, and it looks like they did a great job!

Wednesday, October 9th is National Walk to School Day. Our school participates in the MNDOT's Safe Routes to School Planning Program. As part of that program, our school has researched, observed, and is incorporating best practices to improve our pedestrian routes to school. Some of those improvements you may have noticed are the changes to our pickup and dropoff and bus loading/unloading locations. We are currently trialing some walking flags that students can use when crossing high-traffic zones. We have applied for another grant that would create a trail connection to our athletic complex so all students can access that facility safely. We encourage our families and students to choose walking to school and continue to make that a safe, enjoyable experience.
